Join me at AVCON for an electrifying Anime and Manga Art Presentation and Workshop! Discover how Japanese pop culture shapes global society, language, and literature. Dive into its cultural significance for language learners and fans—interactive, insightful, and open to all in Adelaide's vibrant community.

This session explores anime and manga as multimodal texts, analysing their semiotic richness, sociolinguistic impact, and pedagogical value in second-language acquisition. Drawing on contemporary scholarship, I highlight how these art forms promote intercultural understanding and linguistic engagement, particularly among Japanese language students, while inviting the greater Adelaide community into dynamic cultural discourse.

What a brilliant day at the Adelaide Comic Convention and Toy Fair on April 13!

My exhibition, blending comics and storybooks in language education, was a real hit—sparking fantastic conversations with university lecturers and school teachers alike. 

It was exciting to share my Language in Action™ pedagogy and see such enthusiasm for visual storytelling in language learning. 

The exhibition offered valuable scholarly insights into multimodal literacy, cognitive engagement, and narrative-based learning. Language in Action™ continues to draw attention for its innovative integration of comics, drama, and improvisation to enhance linguistic competence, cultural awareness, and learner motivation in second-language classrooms. A true fusion of creativity and education!
